Roy Orbison - In Dreams (1963)

One of Roy Orbison's many classic hits, this one didn't get to number one in either the US or UK, but it did in Australia.

  • Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but think of the David Lynch movie Blue Velvet that featured this song as the soundtrack to a brutal beating.

Your link plays OK on my computer but it's spoiled by a silly Maltesers advert at the beginning and no "skip ad" feature.

Why would they ruin a beautiful song by using it as the soundtrack to a brutal beating? Why couldn't they have used the Angels' despicable song "My Boyfriend's Back" as a soundtrack for that instead? That song does glorify violence more than any other 1960s song I've ever heard. Now that you've told me that I don't think I'll bother to try the "Blue Velvet" movie after all. It makes me wonder what nasty business is going on when the title song is playing.

  • Have you never seen any David Lynch movies? They are very odd, yet mesmerizing. You can't take your eyes off the screen, but if you have a weak stomach, they may not be for you.

I've seen "Elephant Man" once, and while it was well-made and well-acted I thought the entertainment value was zero. The rest of his films listed on Wikipedia I haven't seen although I have heard of most of them. None of them look especially interesting to me.
