Sly and the Family Stone - Everyday People (1968)

This is my favourite Sly Stone song and it very deservedly reached number one in the USA. In the UK (where it wasn't even released until January 1969), all it managed was a measly #36. It should have duplicated its US success here as well, it deserved to.

  • Just on pure talent and artistic brilliance, Sly & the Family Stone should've been the #1 rock band in the US. However, due to substance abuse, they quickly developed a reputation for being unreliable and undependable, alienating fans wherever they went. What a shame.

What's happened to your avatar, 69Kisses96? It's gone all dark and almost invisible.

The band's hits seemed to dry up in the mid-70s. I wasn't sure why, but maybe it was for the reasons you said. That is sad.

  • I got a new avatar. It is 3% of the 3D map of the observable universe that is the ultimate Hubble Space Telescope image. Every dot in this picture is a galaxy - 47,000 of them. This will be the ultimate deep field image until the Webb Space Telescope comes on line in about five years.
There is no doubt that their career drying up was their maddening habit of showing up two or three hours late for concerts, driving away fans. Sly Stone literally was stoned 24/7.

So that's where he got the stage name from, is it? Lol:)

No wonder your avatar is so difficult to see, if that's what it's supposed to be. Lol:)
