Jerry Lee Lewis's version of this song was not a hit in the UK, and it was Rod Stewart who made the song famous here. His version was released as the flipside of his cover version of the Jimi Hendrix song "Angel" and both songs received co-credit on the charts. Surprisingly, Hendrix's own version of "Angel" was a flop single despite his then recent death, and it was Rod Stewart who ended up in the Top 10 with both that and "Milwaukee" in one go.
