I think you can be lazy and put things off that you don't want to do. PERIOD. I think you can NOT WANT TO BE FORCED to do what you don't want to do and simply refuse. PERIOD. Does being rude or insulting come with the territory of feeling superior to others? It seems to and I just wonder why it isn't ok to be civil/polite to those with whom we disagree.
